I was going to make a "Turnip Push" joke, but then… I didn't actually MAKE another one of those games.
Never mind - there's bigger fish to fry this month anyway, huh?
Well, let's begin with Sunday the 1st, where Mum and I went to Maia's town on Animal Crossing and each wrote her a special message that she was able to see on her birthday.
I also made a "mob farm" in Minecraft - in short, it's a building that takes advantage of the way enemies appear from a certain object to instead collect them in a single central place, so that I can more easily kill them to obtain the items they drop.
It's noteworthy because that was actually the first one I've ever made! I used it to to collect cave spiders so that I could make wool from their string. I then dyed the wool and used it to make a mural (does it count as a mural?) that might be familiar to anybody who's been following this blog for a while:
That annoyed-looking sun actually comes from a dream I had about eight years ago or so.
This is the oldest picture I have of it…
…and according to its metadata it was last modified on Friday, 28 April 2017 - so that's the best evidence I have for when I dreamt that dream.
I went for an interview at a nearby (well, if a half-an-hour walk THROUGH THE RAIN to the bus stop followed by another half an hour on the bus counts as "nearby", then sure) Screwfix on Tuesday the 3rd, followed by a generically ordinary day of volunteering on Wednesday the 4th.
But then comes Thursday the 5th - none other than the release date of the Nintendo Switch 2!!
Of course, the very first thing I played was Mario Kart World:
The title screen even has a little cinematic of Mario driving up to the camera when you load the game for the first time!
The stickers you get as achievements can be placed on your kart, but it turns out doing that messes up their ordering. For some reason.
It was my favourite item of all in Mario Kart Wii - now it's back and it's better than ever!
And, of course, we can't forget the eighth and final cup (set of four races) in the game, the Special Cup:
Spoilers for Rainbow Road in Mario Kart World

The build-up to the Special Cup starts with a lengthy cutscene in which the trophy, among other things, zooms past a cow. More at 5.
The track itself begins with its connecting route, which takes you high up into the sky…
About a quarter of the way in, you're suddenly met with a RIVER, the likes of which has never been seen in a Rainbow Road track before!
The actual rainbow road itself is a marvel to behold, with chunks of rainbow flowing like waterfalls off of the edge.
And there's a flying train with characters from the rest of the game too - it really feels like a proper send-off to Mario Kart World - what a spectacle!
I'd DEFINITELY say Rainbow Road was just as much of a "space-tacle" as I was hoping it'd be - and the experience was only improved by the fact that I didn't see ANY spoilers (aside from what was known pre-release, which wasn't actually that much) before playing on it!
I bought the video game Deltarune on Tuesday the 10th, and I went shopping with Maia the next day…
And I might have got a nice breakfast out of it, too:
On Friday the 13th (ooh, spooky) I FINALLY worked up the nerve to delete Twitter from my phone - I hadn't used it in over a month by that point anyway, so deleting it did Only Good Things™.
And then Saturday saw me discover, in a twist that surprised nobody, that I'd been rejected from the Screwfix job.
Seriously, though, there's a reason I linked to this news story back in April.
Anyway, Father's Day was on Sunday the 15th. We went up to see my grandparents and poke around the village fête like we do every year, and it just happened to also be Father's Day this year. Maia couldn't come with us, though, because she was at work. And burning half to death.
for comedically unspecified legal reasons, that's a joke
And then my Libre (the device I use to measure my sugar levels, because - in case anybody's forgotten, because I don't think I actually mention this all that often on this blog - I'm type 1 diabetic) broke the very next day, so I had to replace it. Fun. And it had only been being used for one out of its two weeks, too.
Anyway, I didn't do my volunteering on that Friday the 20th, because it was FAR too hot. Like today.
On a happier note, I went to Reading with Maia on Thursday the 26th:

Yeah, I had just about the world's biggest lunch - almost double what I normally have - that day. Funnily enough, I decided to go back to my IKEA lunch status quo in the future.
And then we come to Friday the 27th.
See, I'd noticed a little while earlier that Powerpoint wasn't playing MIDI music files any more - which is a small problem for me, because I use them to reduce total file size (they're effectively only sheet music that the computer reads instead of the exact sound waves, so not as much information needs to be stored.)
I chose to do an "online repair", because that was recommended, but I only discovered AFTER clicking on it that it ACTUALLY meant "uninstall and reinstall all of Office".
And when it finally put itself back onto my computer? Not only was the issue NOT fixed, but it had COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN the license key I'd put into it years ago. Which was in DAD'S emails, not mine.
The only thing that saved me was that it had a "free trial" that hadn't yet been used, so I could use that instead of having to fork over £9 for a month of Office 365 or something, and Dad was able to quickly find the license key in his emails the following morning, and it all worked and put everything back to normal.
I still can't play MIDI files, though.
Well, that's all from me for this month. Quite frankly, I feel like I'm burning alive, and I can't wait for this SECOND heatwave to end. Which won't happen for a couple of days yet. How… "joyous".
At any rate, I'll be back at the same time in 31 days - so see you then!
