November 2023: The Drowning Saga

It's true -- and it turns out that the sound of pouring rain at night gets old after five consecutive days of it.
Also, to the surprise of no-one, that Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City town didn't last a month.
(Though I do have a good reason for that!)

I started another new town on Animal Crossing: New Leaf (just like two-and-a-half years ago) on the 3rd, and I've been playing on that (with Maia as well) since then.
So far, we've reached the point where the main store has been upgraded twice, and now I'm trying to get the museum's first-floor shop, an endeavour which could take up to two weeks (assuming my source is correct!)

On the 8th, I discovered that a repeat request for insulin had - for some reason - been denied. Thanks to Mum making a call the next day, though, there was a small amount of insulin still available for me at the chemist, so I still have a few pens left -- and another request a couple of weeks later went through properly, so I'll be able to pick up my usual four boxes soon enough.

Then, however, my 3DS wound up turning off with a popping noise in the middle of playing it, and I know what that means, because this is my THIRD time encountering this exact issue -- the ribbon cable that connects the top and bottom screens is likely loose, so I need to send it off to be repaired.
I'd also like to have my broken cameras repaired on it, but there's a chance they could just replace the 3DS wholesale -- which is NOT what I want, because the save data stored on there (which they wouldn't transfer to the new console) is extremely important to me.
Especially my original Animal Crossing: New Leaf town.

On the 11th, Mum & Dad went away for a long weekend in Aberdeen, and they brought us back some treats -- tablet for Maia, and shortbread for me.
It was good shortbread!

Over the course of the month, I also took part in no less than three 7-star Tera Raid Battle events in Pokémon Scarlet - first, Hisuian Typhlosion on the 12th, then Eevee on the 18th, and finally Hisuian Samurott on the 25th!

On the 15th, I finally got my hair cut -- leaving a five-month gap between that and my next most recent hair cut.
It's nice to not have to shove my hair out of my face again!

As well as me catching the Hisuian Samurott in Pokémon Scarlet on the 25th, we watched the Doctor Who special then, too.
Doctor Who "The Star Beast" spoilersThe Meep using harsher language after being revealed to be evil definitely makes the choice of casting Miriam Margolyes make sense.
That resolution of Donna's Meta-Crisis was technically somewhat of a cop-out, too…
…but I'm a sucker for a happy ending, so I'm perfectly willing to overlook it.
Also, they're apparently treating this as a "new" Doctor Who, starting with that episode, and I read somewhere that they might even be re-starting the series numbering?
Last time they did that, they renamed all the old series from "Series XYZ" to "Season XYZ", but there kind of isn't another word that I can think of to rename the 14 most recent series to.

And then, the 27th, 28th, and 29th saw three consecutive days of having to go all the way to the local GP practice.
I walked the first two days, but Wednesday (i.e. yesterday) just saw me give up and get the bus there and back.
(He writes, just over an hour and a half since he got home from the second bus ride.)

As for today, I finally got my act together and sorted out my 3DS repair, so I'll be able to send it off to Nintendo tomorrow!

Anyway, that's all from me for this month, so I'll be back with another post on New Year's Eve!
Until then -- stay safe!
