March 2023: Shoplessness

The Wii U and 3DS eShops have shut down for good now.
It was nice while it lasted, right?

Either way, let's consult The Diary™, because it's extremely helpful in recording the real nitty-gritty about what happens to me each month.

Well, on the 1st, I managed to catch those two special Pokémon I'd mentioned last month -- Walking Wake, the one which looks like Suicune, and Iron Leaves, the one which looks like Virizion.
It was nice to finish it all so comfortably within the time limit!

On the 7th, I played Mario Kart Wii for the first time in ages.
It was really nice to play it and remember all the fun I had with it when I was younger!
And it has my favourite item of them all, the Mega Mushroom! There's nothing quite like the fun of turning giant and squashing your opponents.
…that said, that night, I managed to break my headphones that I'd had for the past two years. That's okay, though, since I had a backup pair waiting to go the whole time!

On the 9th, they released the next "wave" of 8 tracks for the most recent Mario Kart game, including one based on the Yoshi's Island games!

…and then the 13th rolls around.
Our bathroom is being renovated because Mum wants a downstairs toilet, and we'd had a house booked for the first week so that we could still bathe when the bath was being put in.
That'd be fine, except for the fact that circumstances forced the start of the work to be delayed by a week.
Which meant we had no extra house in which to bathe.

And let me just say, cat's-lick baths are the most horrid and humiliating things I've ever had to go through in my life.
I mean, for ████'s sake, bathing is supposed to take place in baths! It's in the ████ing name!
(And, no, I couldn't think of a satisfactory non-swear word to put in there, so I've simply covered them up.)

That said, I can put up some before-and-during photos of the bathroom (no after, though, since it's still a work in progress.)

On St Patrick's Day, the 17th, in addition to a (ridiculously big) fish-and-chips dinner, we also happened to watch the latter part of Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
…that was definitely one of the intermissions of all time.

On the 21st - or, rather, the 22nd - I wound up wasting three hours of my life by turning the English word "stone" into a natively French word (i.e. since English and French have a common ancestor, what would the word look life if French inherited it from there as well, with all of the sound changes that entails?)
The answer is "étun", by the way, in case you're interested.
And, yes, I'm aware that that just sounds like "and one".

On the 24th, I started brainstorming an idea for a brand-new invented language -- but this time, I'd be making a whole language family!
I have no idea if I'll succeed, but it'll certainly make the languages feel more natural than "all verbs are conjugated in exactly the same way, with no irregularity".

On the 26th, my charger plug that I've been using for my phone for years broke, so I need to get a new one soon (preferably, a weak one, say 5W, so that I can plug my phone in and charge it overnight.)

The next day was the very last day to buy things on the Wii U and 3DS eShops. I bought almost all I wanted on the Wii U eShop, that being: Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, Wario Land: The Shake Dimension, Kirby: Power Paintbrush, and Mario Party DS.
The only two I didn't buy were Animal Crossing: Wild World (because Let's Go to the City is basically just a better version of Wild World, and we already have it) and Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush (it turns out it's actually cheaper on Amazon.)

On Wednesday (the 29th) me & Dad went up to meet Maia - who'd been staying in a hotel while she was on nights - and had breakfast at a Toby Carvery.
I found the scrambled eggs they were serving to be surprisingly nice!

Anyway, that's all from me for this month.
Next week in particular is jam-packed -- on Wednesday, Maia & I are going to see the Mario movie, on Thursday we're all going to IKEA, and on Sunday, not only are we going out for breakfast, but Mum, Maia & I are all going to sit down over lunch (or lunchtime, probably, because everyone'll be too full to eat lunch) and watch the grand finale of The Owl House!
I'll see everybody at the end of next month, when we're all completely soaked.
Bye for now!
