February 2023: Localised Entirely Within Your Kitchen

(Who knows how wrong I'll be about how many people get it?)
February!
…Not a lot happened this month, to be honest.
But, here's what DID happen!
I went to Reading with Maia on Thursday, the 2nd.
Instead of showing you my food like I normally do, why not look at this pigeon I found wandering around the train station?
A little bit later, I realised I was having a hypo (i.e. my blood sugars were low -- below 4 mmol/l) so I went to the Burger King to buy an ice cream, but they didn't have any ice cream.
So, instead, I got some chips which I ate on the train home:
I wish I'd remembered having previously set up Apple Pay on my phone before having to fumble around with my debit card, though.

I had another "Croque Madame with Two Hats™" (as I've taken to calling them) on the 7th, and another one on the 18th.

On the 9th, I changed my razor blades for - embarrassingly - the first time ever after using them for four-and-a-half years -- and shaving has never been easier.
I also rebooted a series of short stories I started writing all the way back in 2016, when I was 14 -- but that's all I'm saying here, because I'd be insanely embarrassed if they got out.

The next day, I forgot just how sharp the new razor blades were, and wound up cutting my fingertip on them. Wasn't that clever?
It's taken the last fortnight for it to heal, too -- a lot longer than I thought it'd take.

The next day again - the 11th - saw us head up to Grandma & Granddad, where I helped remind Granddad of how to use the built-in DVD player on their TV set.
(It's somewhat unintuitive, as well -- I would put the DVDs in with the shiny side facing me, but they're actually supposed to face the other way.)

A couple of days after that, I looked on my secondary school's website to see who's still there -- there's ten names left on the staff list that I recognise.

Then, on the 15th, the whole "DVD" thing from the 11th inspired me to pull out mine, from 2015, which has a recording of the original school play that I adapted into the first of the short stories.
Good times.
And by "good" I mean "I hid downstairs, away from the cringe".

On the 18th, I managed to convince Maia to swap our Nintendo Switch Online membership from the standard version to the "Expansion Pass", which gave us access to Nintendo 64 & GBA games -- including Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, which I started the next day!
In spite of being a year older than me, I think it's aged quite well.
I also pestered Maia to play Wario Land 3, but she hasn't gotten round to it yet.

On the 27th, it was Pokémon Day -- the anniversary of the release of the first Pokémon games!
As expected, they announced extra content for the most recent Pokémon games, which is split into two parts -- part 1, "The Teal Mask", is set for release in the autumn, and part 2, "The Indigo Disk", will release in winter!

"The Teal Mask" focusses on the Legendary Pokémon Ogerpon, while "The Indigo Disk" features the Legendary Pokémon Terapagos!

In addition to that, they started a new event, featuring two new "Paradox Pokémon" -- that is, past & future versions of existing Pokémon, called Walking Wake (based on Suicune) and Iron Leaves (based on Virizion.)
They're only available until the 12th of March, though, so I seem to have my work cut out for me if I want to catch them in time!

That night, as well, we went out to see the aurora borealis, which had reached as far south as Cornwall the previous night - hence the name of this blog post - but we unfortunately couldn't see it.
Here's a photo of absolutely nothing:
I did say it was nothing!

Either way, that's all for this month!
See you again in 31 days!

I'm finding myself having a craving for Wii games. Like Mario Kart Wii and Super Paper Mario. Maybe I'll play them soon.
Also, I might have a quiz next month! Watch this space…
