Well, it looks like it's that time of year again!
...oh, wait. No it isn't.
Well... kind of?
I mean, it's not Christmas, but it is New Year's Eve.
...let's just get on with the post.
SO let's talk about how my December's been! (That is the point of a blog. 😛)
It all begins on the 29th... of November. I just wanted to show this:
I tried hot chocolate for the first time! It was actually really nice. Definitely tasted like chocolate, and it was warm too, so that was a plus!
And now we're on the 1st of December - by which I mean the 'super' Community Day held in Pokémon GO! (It featured every Pokémon previously featured throughout 2018. Useful when I wasn't playing it for most of the year!)
Me and Mum went into town to catch Pokémon (during a Community Day, shiny Pokémon chances increase from roughly 1 in 450 to roughly 1 in 25!) It was fun - and I even got more than just catching done...
I'm not really a fan of milk chocolate. Good thing white chocolate exists instead! |

I think I've finally started to properly figure out how battling works on Pokémon GO (very, very differently from the core series, that's how!)
Me and Mum ended up completing three Raid Battles - my first ever (that I won, anyway) - catching two Buizel and a Mawile! We also took a Gym (though it ended up being taken back from us at about 4.45 pm. Sad times.) Lunch out was also nice, so that was another plus!
We also went out on the 2nd, catching more Pokémon and eventually getting up to a total of 25 km walked over the whole week! Predictably enough, my legs ached for about the next three days. 😒
...honestly, the last time my legs hurt so much was the time Colette (Art teacher in secondary school) convinced me to try yoga. (That was awful. My legs, like this time, ached for about three days afterwards.)
The 7th was the release date of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on the Switch! It arrived at about 1 pm, and I immediately started playing its story mode.
It is LONG.
I thought I had beaten the game on two separate occasions, only to find out that no, I hadn't, it was longer than I thought. The only game I can really compare it to in that regard is Kirby's Adventure Wii.
Maia also came home for that weekend, and was quite looking forward to time on the Switch!
...except that never came to pass because the game was too long. 👍🏻
AND THEN I WENT TO THE NORTH |
...well, the Midlands. It's north of the South. 😃
I figured, since Maia was coming down again, this time for Christmas, why not go up to meet her? (And get a head start on annoying her, too!)
(yes that's exactly the kind of brother I am)
Until Christmas Day, nothing much happened then, apart from presents and cards being delivered, and the Christmas decorations being put up, like my tree here:
And then Christmas happened!
I got a calendar from Kurzgesagt (a Youtube channel I follow which produces science-themed videos), a mini Commodore 64 (touting 64 pre-installed games), a new pair of headphones, £60 in cash and £55 in Amazon vouchers, and other stuff!
Maia then bought her own Switch... because, as I often say, why not. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
She bought two physical games (Lego Harry Potter and her own copy of Zelda: Breath of the Wild) and also bought Stardew Valley on the eShop.
Now, I've seen bits and pieces of Stardew valley before, and I was on the fence about buying it. But Maia playing the game convinced me to buy it as well, so I bought it on Switch last night!
At the moment, I'm (most likely) at my grandparents' house, possibly eating lunch or possibly playing Stardew Valley. (How should I know now? For me, writing this, now is eleven and a half hours before this post goes up... as in, half past midnight. 😐
At least I know that feeling now...)
Anyway, I have a rough plan of my schedule for January:
1 Jan | 7pm: Watch the Doctor Who New Year's Day special! (So they're finally bringing back the Daleks... drama!!)
7 Jan; Back to college! (And apparently on to a unit all about BEING THROWN INTO THE DEEP END OF SELF-GUIDED RESEARCH EVEN THOUGH I HAVE NO PLANS FOR UNIVERSITY)
(help)
21 Jan | 5am: Watch the blood moon! (It's the last time a total lunar eclipse will be visible from the UK for nearly eleven years. There is no way in hell I'm missing that.)
