New Year's Day 2018

Happy New Year, everybody!

Today is the first day of 2018 - so let's celebrate and look back at 2017 on this blog!

21 February: The computer breaks
Oh, I remember this. The file ntuser.dat became corrupted, leading me to four days of hell! Thankfully, it hasn't messed up since then.

03 March: The Switch is released
On Friday, 03 March, the Nintendo Switch console - a hybrid between a home console and a portable system - was released alongside The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It took me two entire weeks to finish - and even then, I was only 15% complete!

It later had two downloadable content packs released - The Master Trials on 30 June, bringing an extra-hard gauntlet of enemies (well, actually three) and an extra-hard mode; and The Champions' Ballad on 07 December, bringing more Shrines of Trials, a new dungeon and… a motorcycle.

10-19 August: The Horans visit
The Horan family, my relatives from Ireland, visited in August. It was brilliant having them over, and is something I have treasured about this past year!

13 September: My 16th birthday
On Wednesday, 13 September 2017, I turned 16. Not much else changed, funnily enough - but I did have an amazing three-course birthday at TGI Friday's, so that was something I'd been looking forward to!

03 November: I am diagnosed with type 1 diabetes
…yes, while most of the rest of the list is positive, this is absolutely not. Not in any way. But we can still look at the bright side - I'm still here, I'm still alive, and I'm still happy! Just because I have diabetes doesn't mean my life is now over. I still have the exact same life plans I had before, and diabetes won't get in the way of them!

So… yeah! 2017 was an eventful year - and I won't lie either in saying it was the worst of my life. But now we're into 2018! I'm not trying to tempt fate here, but I honestly cannot see a way that my life could get worse than 'nearly dying' (well, apart from 'actually dying'.) So this year should hopefully be better than the last!

And with that, there remains only one more thing to say…
