June 2019: Games, games galore

It's June--so that means it (was, earlier this month) also time for E3!
So let me show you my highlights of the presentation (and other things!)
I started (trying to) diet on the first Monday (the 3rd.) I figure that, since I am very overweight and diabetic, it would help if I lost some of my weight. So far, it's not going too bad - even despite two weeks of (more or less) cheating and bending the rules of the diet, I've still managed to lose weight!

But first, the 3rd had the Pokémon Direct - all about Pokémon Sword & Shield! They revealed the new mechanic for the games -- Dynamax, where Pokémon grow enormous for three turns and have access to more powerful moves! They also revealed the Wild Area, an open expanse of land in the middle of the Galar region inhabited by many Pokémon, and Max Raid Battles, where four players battle against a (permanently) Dynamaxed Pokémon in the hope of defeating it so it can be caught!

They also revealed seven new Pokémon:
Gossifleur | Flowering Pokémon
Type:
Grass
Evolves into Eldegoss
Eldegoss | Cotton Bloom Pokémon
Type:
Grass
Evolves from Gossifleur
Wooloo | Sheep Pokémon
Type:
Normal
Corviknight | Raven Pokémon
Type:
 Flying/Steel
Drednaw | Bite Pokémon
Type:
 Water/Rock
Zacian
Mascot of Pokémon Sword
Zamazenta
Mascot of Pokémon Shield
In addition, the release date of the games was revealed as the 15th of November!

The 7th was Maia's birthday, so we went to TGI Friday's for dinner - as per the norm for me eating out, I had the exact same food as the last five (or so) times I've been to one. (As they say, if it's not broken, don't fix it!)

The 8th was - as well as the Queen's official birthday - a Community Day on Pokémon GO, this time for Slakoth!

There were hardly any around, though.

To give credit to them, Niantic (the developers) did realise this, and pledged to make Slakoth available again sometime over the summer, so we'll wait and see how that pans out!

E3 (the Electronic Entertaiment Expo) ran from the 11th to the 13th, with Nintendo doing their presentation on the 11th. It was quite good - they even properly revealed the Animal Crossing game from September as Animal Crossing: New Horizons, releasing on the 20th of March, 2020!

And a sequel to Zelda: Breath of the Wild is in production.

Also, Pokemon that are not in the Galar Pokédex cannot be transferred to Sword & Shield.
...so that sent some 'fans' (read: people who complain about everything) into a right strop.
I don't care because, as it happens, I don't actually use Pokémon not in regional Dexes.
Not even my favourite, Empoleon.

And then, of course, Super Mario Maker 2 came out on Friday, so I spent a huge amount of time playing that (mostly its Story Mode, but I made a few levels as well!)

Also yesterday was agony. In case you haven't seen it:

Also, last night was a pain, too. I was lucky I had an air-con unit!
(and I was unlucky by having to turn it off before I went to sleep due to electricity costs, but never mind that)

But that seems to be all I have to say, so I'll be posting again at the end of next month!
