May 2019: The month I did work

When is working in a shop relevant to science?

When it's a chemist, of course!

(I did also do pharmacy work. It wasn't all shop, I promise. That's why it was relevant. 😉)

...and let me just say that the words omeprazole, atorvastatin and ramipril have been burnt into my head so much that I doubt I'll ever forget them.

As is the norm with my life, nothing much happened for the first couple of weeks of May -- just regular going to college and doing assignments.

Though when I had lunch at McDonald's on the 10th, I actually met up with Kay - the same Kay from secondary school! We had a bit of a chat, with me telling him how college has been going, and him telling me how the school's been getting on (it was bought by a different trust last January.) It seems the school's doing well - I've been told more pupils are arriving, which has got to be a good thing!

On Monday, the 13th, I started my work experience. For the first week, I did things such as arranging items in the shop, filing away prescription scripts (so they could be retrieved later),  filing away the actual medication, printing out scripts and stickers (to place on the items), restocking commonly-prescribed items, restocking items in the shop (drinks, toilet paper, etc.)

Maia came home on Tuesday, as well, so we played games together (she managed to get me back into Animal Crossing!) There was a Community Day in Pokémon GO - starring Torchic - so me and Mum went out on Saturday for that!

Then it turned out it was actually on Sunday.
So I headed back, Mum went into town, and we both went out for that.
Torchic: because nothing says 'shiny' better than 'reversed colour scheme'.
...actually, it's not that bad.
It's better than bloody Garchomp. (Garchomp's shiny is of the 'infinitesimally darker shade of blue' category.)

Maia then went back on Monday, so I bought her a few treats as a way of saying goodbye!
I then completed my second week of work experience, doing mostly the same things as the first week, and then it was over.

And now we're at the end of half term - I've been doing assignments (because I have five due in next week), but brought in a cake to my work experience pharmacy yesterday to say thanks for having me!
...I didn't cook it, but surely it's the thought that counts? (And it was still home-made - just by Mum instead of me!)
But anyway... that's all from me now. Next month, however...

...I'll have melted in the insanely hot June sun.

SO LET'S LOOK FORWARD TO THAT

Thank you for reading, anyway, and I'll be back at the end of June! See you then!
