[23/10/16] Upcoming Games News: Nintendo Switch Revealed!

Hello, everybody! On Wednesday, there was a particularly special announcement...

On Wednesday, 19 October 2016, at 2pm UTC (3pm BST), the Nintendo Switch was revealed. Formerly codenamed NX, the system is going to be... um... I don't quite know if it's console or handheld - or if it'll even fit into either category. Regardless, let me tell you what I know.

Judging by this page, the Switch will be a console that has some handheld capabilities. When in its dock, it links up to a TV, allowing for it to be played like a regular home console. However, when the console is taken OUT of the dock, it transitions to handheld mode, allowing the same games to be played on the go. (Its battery life is unknown.)

The console has two controllers attached to either side of it, called Joy-Con controllers. (No idea why...) They can be detatched from the console itself and used to play the games themselves. Or you could go for either a Joy-Con grip accessory, which mirrors a normal controller - or just go for a normal controller with the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller!

There will also be local wireless communication.

And that's all we know about the Nintendo Switch. No more information will come until 2017 - and the console itself will release in March. I'm really excited to see what kind of games will come out on the Switch!

So then, I'll see everyone next week - the end of the half-term - for another blog post! Bye for now!
