Well, it's certainly been an… interesting month for me, I'll say that much.
There's nothing quite like being in the middle of something and desperate to avoid spoilers, only for your only way of experiencing that something to go belly-up.
Plus, using PayPal was a really stupid decision on my part.
On Thursday the 3rd, I had a doctor's appointment – but, in my infinite wisdom, I managed to sleep in, so I had to leave the house without any breakfast. I did, however, manage to get a dentist's appointment afterwards, even though I thought I'd been removed from their system!
Which is good, because I've had a hole in my tooth (upper-left tooth 7, my second and final molar -- but the whole "none of my wisdom teeth have come up" thing is another story) for the last four years, and I'd really like it to be fixed so I don't have to use toothpicks all the time to get food out of there.
On Saturday the 5th, I went out for the Sewaddle Community Day in Pokémon Go along with Mum, and we both managed to get Shiny Sewaddle (not that it's particularly difficult, considering Shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Go Community Days are in fact over 150 times more common than normally in Pokémon games -- a 1/25 chance during Community Days in Pokémon Go, and a 1/4096 chance in normal Pokémon games!)
Mum also found a little shop with clothes that she liked very much, so she bought some there. The woman who worked there was nice, too.
Sure, I might sound like a child when I word things that way, but I genuinely can't think of any other way to word that right now.
Then, on Wednesday the 9th, I went to go play on my Switch, to being the sixth dungeon of eight in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, when the internal fan went crazy as it always does – but this time, nothing I did would calm it down, and I realised, much to my anger, that my Switch was effectively broken!
I sent it off to be repaired two days later. Then, the next night (the 12th) the Wii U GamePad (the peripheral that comes with the Wii U, which looks like the precursor of the Switch) was also broken! I could still play Wii games (such as Mario Kart Wii, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and Super Paper Mario) but I couldn't play anything else.
I looked at the battery with a multimeter a few days later, and noticed that it seemed to be more-or-less dead, so I'll need to buy a replacement battery for it.
The next day – the 13th – I woke up to find I had a cold, so I took the day off of volunteering (so I wouldn't infect anybody else) and then spent the next several days waiting for it to clear up.
In the meantime, my Switch arrived at Nintendo's repair place on the 15th, and I got the bill for the repairs two days later on the 17th. I used PayPal to pay for it, which turned out to be a huge mistake, because it meant they didn't actually start repairing my Switch until the payment went through properly, and that took three business days, so my Switch only got repaired on the 22nd.
Meanwhile, we went to see Grandma & Granddad on the 19th, and all was well!
I had a doctor's appointment on the 21st, which culminated in a few changes to my diabetes routines (so as to better control my blood sugars.)
And on the 23rd, Maia & I went to Reading on a day trip out! Our routine was the same as ever – go to IKEA, eat there, look around, have ice cream, go into the town centre and look around at the shops there, go home – but it was nice to go there, because it'd been several months since the last time.
Plus, the ice cream machine still didn't have any chocolate sauce, so I took advantage of that once again!
On Thursday the 24th, I finally got my Switch back from being repaired, so I set about playing Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom as fast as I could (to make up for two weeks of not playing it) and I managed to beat it that Saturday!
The final boss was easier to defeat than I expected, that's all I'm saying.Spoilers for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
I'm particularly interested in how the Golden Goddesses got their first actual speaking roles in the franchise this time around, and Null – being something that existed before the Goddesses made Hyrule – certainly has interesting implications too.
Yesterday featured the unexpected announcement and release of the Nintendo Music app, which is exactly what it sounds like (a streaming service for music from Nintendo games.)
Considering how often they get Youtube videos of their games' music taken down, it's nice that they're finally offering an official alternative. It really doesn't work on tablets, though, and the music selection is currently quite small, but hopefully they'll release more games' soundtracks as time goes on.
Also, in spite of what I said at the end of last month…
I'm not going to stop this blog at the end of the year.
The main reason I tooko that decision last month was because I'd end up having to write the entire blog post in a very short space of time – but, following a recommendation from Granddad on the 19th, I've been able to write this post bit-by-bit over the course of the last couple of weeks, so it's been far less stressful than before. As long as I keep things up this way, writing blog posts will be perfectly fine – so, for the forseeable future, I'll be continuing with my monthly blog posts!
Anyway, that's all from me for this month, so I'll be back on the 30th of November, and I'll (hopefully, barring any ridiculous accidents like what happened this month!) be talking about my experience with the new game Mario & Luigi: Brothership!
