This time, though, I will warn you… this wasn't the most exciting of months, if I'm perfectly honest. But I'm still going to talk about it!
The Steam Summer Sale was on until the 11th, where a lot of video games were on sale, so I bought one called TUNIC that I'd seen a few times before, and was now 50% off!
I still haven't got round to playing it yet, because I'm still trying to beat Terraria, but I do plan on playing it (obviously, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it!) at some point!
Then, on Saturday the 13th, I played Pokémon Scarlet, defeating and catching Pikachu the Unrivalled!
Then, on the 16th, Dad swapped parts of my bed around so that the broken part is now at my feet instead of at my head (where there's more of my weight on the mattress) so now I feel better about sleeping normally. Then, that evening, there was a short power cut that only affected our house, but when Dad got the power working again, the internet wasn't working instead!
Mum had to phone up and explain what was going on, but mysteriously enough, after Dad turned the modem off and on again, it started working again. This, in spite of the fact that it hadn't started working when I did a factory reset.
I swear, technology can be so confusing sometimes… And I'm of the generation that grew up after it had already established itself!
On Thursday the 18th, I wound up thinking of my broken 3DS, and after looking online once more for help, decided on a whim to stick some card by the battery, so as to hold it in place…
AND IT WORKED. My 3DS was fixed!
Honestly, I wasn't expecting it to be so easy to fix, but I'm definitely not complaining or anything!
The next day – Friday the 19th – it was so hot (30 °C, to be precise) that I didn't go into work (i.e. volunteering.) My boss was okay with that, though. (More okay than I thought she'd be, actually.)
Then, on Sunday the 21st, I accidentally had to fight Martians! Let me explain:
I was playing Terraria, and I decided to fill out the bestiary entry for the Martian Probe enemy. In order to do this, I needed to destroy them ten times – easy enough. But then, just as I teleported away, an eleventh probe spotted me and started flying up, which normally triggers a Martian invasion.
I hoped that, since I teleported away, the probe would disappear (enemies disappear if they're too far away from you) but it… didn't. And so I had a Martian invasion on my hands!
I was killed… three times… but hey, at least death in Terraria is only temporary! And I had a better time (only dying once) the second time I summoned the Martians, because this time I was prepared.
The next day, at work, I worked at the till! It'd been a while since the last time I'd worked there, but I was able to pick things back up without too much trouble (though I still had to call somebody else to process returns.)
On Tuesday the 23rd, Dad and I went to IKEA to look for a good new chest fo drawers for me – we found one, but to be honest I was more impressed at the fact that they'd changed the ice cream machines, and there was no more chocolate sauce on my ice cream!I hate chocolate sauce – and chocolate-flavour food in general, though actual chocolate (or stuff close to it) is okay, so choc ices are okay as well – so that really made my day.
The next day, I tried some fancy vanilla ice cream from Lidl, and it was nice as well! It's kind of like their "answer" to Haagen-Dazs, it seems, but it's also apparently about half the price.
Last Friday – the 26th – I was back on the tills at work, except now I have my own login! I don't know if the receipts say who you were served by, but if they do, then there's receipts out there with my name on them! I think that's nice, because it shows I've grown enough to serve customers, when before I wanted nothing to do with it.
I still need to find a paying job, though. But this will (hopefully) make it easier, because I can put it on my CV!
I also booked an appointment with the optician for tomorrow – it's a smaller, (seemingly – I don't acutally know for certain) independent shop in town that Mum's been to, and she said it's really good, so I'm going there tomorrow to get a new pair of glasses!
Just as well, considering I've been wearing the same pair – that barely fit my face – for the last three years now.
Anyway, that's all from me for this month, so I'll say goodbye – until this time next month!
