Winter 2021-22: Advanced Darkness

no this definitely isn't a SpongeBob reference what are you talking about

ANYWAY
That's right! It's been FOUR ENTIRE MONTHS since the last time I posted on this blog!
It's because I'm clinically depressed
So, 'why not start using it again?!' I thought. And that's how I got here.
also there's the whole thing about how Russia's just invaded Ukraine but I'm pretty sure I'm not talking about that out of a not-entirely-abstract fear that it could lead to World War III
Or, to butcher an Encanto quote, "we don't talk about Russia".
At least not on this blog, anyway.
It's technically from October, but we're beginning with this... unfortunate still from a Mario Kart race of mine -- I'm about to be hit by a Blue Shell (well, technically it's called a Spiny Shell, but nobody calls it that) because I'm in first place.

look at the top-right corner
To start in November, Animal Crossing: New Horizons had its version 2.0 update released on the 4th!
This added characters from past instalments, such as Brewster the pigeon, Kapp'n the kappa, Katrina the cat, Tortimer the tortoise, and more!
As well as that, it added gyroids - dancing objects dug up from the ground, though they're quite different to what they used to be - to the game, as well as farming and cooking, both of which haven't been seen in Animal Crossing games before (to my knowledge) but have been in the code (partially) since day 1, so people were looking forward to them for a long time!
(A year and a half, to be precise.)

On the 24th, me and Maia went to IKEA in Reading and enjoyed ourselves!
...Probably.
I don't actually remember it any more.

Good thing we're going on Friday, then!

Then, the next day (the 25th), we played Mario Party 5 - my first Mario Party game - for the first time in years!
I had fun.

There was a bomb (a Bob-Omb) on the bridge, and Daisy on the opposing team set it off, causing her team to lose their money.

We won.

Also, did I mention I outright FORGOT to give myself insulin one day? (the 16th)
No?

Well I did now.

In December, I wound up mostly playing Terraria, an endeavour that continued until it was interrupted all the way in late January by... something that I'll get to eventually.

Christmas came and went, as it always does; I got various presents, including Mario Party Superstars on the Switch, which is a collection of boards from the Nintendo 64 Mario Party games (the first three) and minigames from the ten numbered games (N64, GameCube, Wii, Wii U)!

Then, in January, on the 19th, Maia dragged me out, all the way to Portsmouth, so we could visit Gunwharf Quays -- and I will say it was the first time I'd been to an outlet shopping centre.

Also, I remember how traumatising it was when I went up the Spinnaker Tower ten years ago.
On a definitely-completely-in-every-way-unrelated note, I have acrophobia (fear of heights).

I also started playing Wordle around then, and on the 28th, Pokémon Legends: Arceus was released on the Switch!
All above screenshots are from the first hour of my gameplay (more or less.)
I've had tremendous fun playing it so far, and I still have a ways to go before I've done everything!

Then, on the 9th, me & Maia watched a Nintendo Direct, which revealed the release date of Kirby and the Forgotten Land (25th March) and revealed the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass, which will double the number of courses in MK8D, with the first eight (out of 48) to be released on the 18th!

This day last week (the 21st), I updated my computer to Windows 11 after putting it off for several months, and so far I'm finding it nice, though it's extremely similar to Windows 10.

so, I have chosen... chaos
also there was that "Twosday" thing going around the internet

Plus, I've been playing Minecraft with Maia recently (finally, not alone!!!) and so far, we've managed to make a house:

AND last but absolutely most certainly not least, yesterday brought this...

A "generation" in Pokémon is part of the cycle -- each generation introduces new Pokémon and a new region.

The games are called Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, and so far, the three starter Pokémon chosen from at the beginning of the game have been revealed:
Sprigatito, the Grass Cat Pokémon - a Grass-type
Fuecoco, the Fire Croc Pokémon - a Fire-type
Quaxly, the Duckling Pokémon - a Water-type

The games will be released in "late 2022", so most likely November (my guess right now being the 18th) as usual.
I'm really excited to see what these games and their Iberian-inspired (probably?) region are like!

At any rate, that's all from me today. Hopefully I'll remember to make my 200th post next month -- so, with luck, I'll see you then!
Though there is one last thing...
A brand-new quiz!
It's the first one in about five years, and it's my way of saying "sorry for making you wait for four months just for a blog post"!
If you'd rather fill it out on a dedicated page, then use this link:

SO, with that out of the way, I shall bid you farewell -- for now!
